About Me
Laura Venezia is an Italian writer and photojournalist whose work moves across the boundaries of literature, photography, and human experience. Her artistic journey began early: in 1996, her short story Senza Nome was selected among the finalists of the prestigious Premio Campiello Giovani, later published by Marsilio in I ragazzi del Campiello. That recognition marked the beginning of a path where words and images would intertwine to explore the mystery of reality.
Her writing reflects a deep fascination for inner landscapes and the invisible links between memory and light. In her novels — Di te dice la notte and La nascita dei desideri liquidi — she investigates the fragility of human desire in the age of communication, combining lyrical prose with philosophical insight. Her most recent work, Light. The Mysteries in the Feast of Corpus Domini (Marcianum Press, 2019), enriched by a contribution from writer Marco Steiner, blends narrative and photography in a spiritual and anthropological journey through one of Italy’s most evocative traditions.
Alongside her literary production, Laura Venezia has developed an extensive career in photojournalism, documenting the intersections between art, faith, and culture. She collaborates with the historic Roman press agency Agrpress, founded by Carlo Riccardi, and is an accredited photographer at the Venice International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Rome Film Festival, and the Vatican Press Office. Her images reveal a search for the sacred dimension of light — a visual reflection on silence, beauty, and the human condition.
Born in Campobasso on June 22, 1978, Laura Venezia graduated in Philosophy from La Sapienza University of Rome and later earned a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University “Gabriele D’Annunzio” of Chieti, specializing in Aesthetic and Regenerative Medicine at Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Rome. Her dual background in the humanities and sciences profoundly shapes her vision: an approach that unites critical thought, empathy, and aesthetic intuition.
Today, Laura Venezia continues to explore the dialogue between word and image, reason and emotion — telling stories that illuminate the beauty of what is often overlooked and the silence that reveals the essence of things.
